Rules
Rules — Helderberg Dog Coaching Centre
Effective Date: 7 June 2026 Version: v3 Document ID: hdcc-rules-2026-06-07 Status: Active
PLEASE READ THESE RULES CAREFULLY. These Rules apply to every visit to the Site. They are non-negotiable. Failure to comply may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access at HDCC's sole discretion.
0. Definitions
- Site: the HDCC training facilities at Annandale Drive, Somerset West, on the Seventh Day Adventist School premises (including the fields, the Canine Conditioning Studio, the parking areas, and any auxiliary spaces used in the course of HDCC services).
- Coach: Zelda Simon, Elzabi van Wyk, Sarah Davies (in her photographer/collaborator capacity), or any other HDCC-authorised instructor.
- HDCC Staff: Zelda Simon, the Coaches, and any other persons authorised by Zelda to act on HDCC's behalf at the Site.
1. The Sabbath Rule (Non-Negotiable)
Zero activity on the Sabbath.
HDCC operates on premises owned by the Seventh Day Adventist School, which observes the Sabbath. The Sabbath runs from sunset on a Friday to sunrise on a Sunday. No training, no rentals, no admin access to the Site is permitted during this window. This is a hard constraint and cannot be overridden — not by Zelda, not by emergency, not by event organiser request.
If your booking would fall within the Sabbath window it will be auto-rejected by the system.
2. Site Premises and Conduct
- The Site is family-rated, apolitical, and free from religious or political solicitation. Please do not bring promotional material, religious tracts, or political content onto the premises.
- No smoking, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted on Site.
- Dogs must be on lead, safely tethered, or crated at all times if not busy with actual training on the field. This applies on arrival, during transitions between fields, before and after sessions, and any other time the dog is not actively under coach instruction in a designated training area.
- You are responsible for picking up after your dog immediately, and for cleaning up any mess your dog leaves anywhere on Site. Repeat failure is a Site Rules breach.
- You are responsible for supervising any children you bring to the Site at all times. Children may not handle a dog they are not trained to handle.
- Treat the Seventh Day Adventist School premises, Zelda, Elzabi, Sarah, any other HDCC Staff and Coaches, other handlers, and other dogs with respect.
3. Zelda's Personal Dogs
Zelda's personal dogs (Muffin, Mila, La'C, Flick'R) are present at the Site during HDCC operations. Where possible they will be in Zelda's car or crated in the CFT studio when other dogs are using the fields. In the event of unforeseen interaction (e.g. a dog escapes a crate, an unscheduled gate opening, a Coach handover), you accept their presence as a normal feature of the facility and will not bring a claim based on their presence, behaviour, or interaction with your dog unless the claim arises from HDCC's gross negligence or intentional wrongdoing (CPA section 51 — protected rights cannot be excluded).
4. Vaccination and Health Requirements
Your dog must have the following current vaccinations:
- 5-in-1 (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, leptospirosis)
- Rabies
- Kennel Cough (bordetella)
You must provide a valid vaccination certificate from your veterinarian before your first session. Renewal dates must be kept current in your profile.
Do not bring your dog to the Site if it is:
- Ill or showing symptoms of illness
- Recovering from surgery (without Zelda's specific written approval)
- Carrying a contagious condition (e.g. kennel cough, parvo)
- In season (un-spayed females during heat — case-by-case discussion with Zelda)
Notify HDCC immediately by WhatsApp or email if your dog becomes ill within 7 days of attending a session.
5. Arrival, Departure, Parking, and Slot Discipline
Arrival window. Arrive 10–15 minutes before your booked slot for warm-up. This is the only buffer; arriving earlier than 15 minutes is not provided for under our booking with the Landlord.
Warm-up route. Walking is permitted only on the grass field between the astro and the tar road, on lead, for toileting and warm-up, along the northern boundary of the fields. No walking on the upper southern boundary.
Parking. Park on the designated paved parking of the Seventh Day Adventist School, except where Zelda has given explicit permission for southern-boundary parking. Southern-boundary parking permission may be withdrawn at any time, or temporarily reserved for events, at Zelda's sole discretion.
Slot discipline.
- Each Field Rental slot is auto-booked for 25 minutes. Please vacate the field promptly.
- Group lessons and conditioning sessions have specific durations — your Coach will signal when the session ends.
- Late arrival does not extend your slot.
6. Coaches and Third-Party Activity
- Only Zelda, Elzabi, or another HDCC-authorised Coach may coach on the Site.
- If you are a Coach yourself and want to hold a workshop, contact HDCC in advance to arrange. Membership for the purposes of this Site means a person who has registered on this website and signed the indemnity agreements and waivers — whether they are running their own dog or coaching another handler's. Coaches must be registered on this website on the same basis as handlers.
- The Landlord ground levy applies to third-party coaching activity (Section 7).
- Other handlers handling your dog at the Site without you present must be registered as handlers on this website. Reference them by name in your registration so the link is visible.
7. Equipment and Facilities
- Use equipment as instructed by the Coach. Do not improvise or stack equipment in ways not designed.
- Report equipment damage immediately. Do not attempt repairs.
- The Spare Field is available for self-directed sequence work — bring your own training plan.
- No dogs in the Canine Conditioning Studio unless they are participating in a CFT session with Zelda.
8. Suspension and Termination
HDCC reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend or terminate Site access immediately for:
- Any breach of these Rules.
- Repeated late or no-show without notice.
- Failure to make payment.
- Behaviour that endangers another dog, person, or the Site.
- Bringing a sick, contagious, or unvaccinated dog to the Site.
